Since its launch in May 2017, the program has responded to provincial challenges in staffing long-term care homes by establishing structured supports and clear expectations for participating physicians. Physicians in this initiative commit to a set of best-practice standards: ensuring 24/7 availability when required, performing proactive resident visits, conducting meaningful medication reviews, completing comprehensive documentation, and attending case conferences.
For physicians already practicing in Richmond, or those considering a move to the area, the LTCI presents a unique opportunity to integrate long-term care work into their practice portfolio.
